If you are going to fit glass blocks yourself, you first need to consider which system you are going to use. Glass blocks Online offer two systems traditional Mortar Build & the QuickFix UPVC Kits.
Both system can be used with all our glass block ranges. The price of both system are very similar. The choice comes down to whether you prefer mortar or mastic.
If you are more familiar with bricklaying you will probably prefer the mortar build system. Glass block walls can be designed and built to achieve calculated structural resistance with mortar joints. The mortar build will have 10mm joints and will be grouted with a mortar finish. Curved and straight walls can be constructed.
Mortar build accessories: blocks, spacers, reinforcing, expansion, bitumen strip, silicone mastic
Mortar build tools required: hand drill, rubber mallet, trowel , buckets, sponges, level, rubber float, 6mm drill bit

Quickfix System is generally considered more for internal usage. If you are generally DIY minded and practical, you may prefer QuickFix System as oppose to The Traditional Mortar Build. The QuickFix is built with 5 mm joints of which can be grouted or finished with mastic sealant. When joints are finished in mastic sealant, this system becomes very suitable for construction of glass block shower walls.
