Check opening is sized to suit block and joint module (modules of 200mm + 10mm end joint for 190mm blocks).
Check opening is plumb and level.
Carefully mark out for reinforcing holes around all four sides, drill 6mm holes approx 40mm deep
Lay strip of bitumen along base.
Break required number of spacers to "T" pieces and place over bitumen strip.
Place expansion up sides of opening.
Place first block onto spacers, put mortar onto one side of another block and place next to the first block, wipe away any access mortar, continue process until first course is laid.
Place complete spacers in tops of joints
Place reinforcing rod on top of the spacers on the first course, make sure they are inserted into pre drilled holes.
Then lay mortar evenly on top.
Place first block up against expansion joint, then apply mortar to side of next block and place in position, tapping down carefully with rubber mallet. Wipe off any excess mortar as work proceeds.
Complete course, check for straightness, place spacers, position steel rod, apply mortar bed and lay next course.
Continue process until panel complete, then, twist off spacer tabs and clean, once set the mortar can be mixed up wetter and applied to joints as a grout with a grout float, once applied the access can be removed with sponges and clean water.
Once dry you can dust off and apply silicone to perimeter expansion joints.
Panel complete.
